Life can be difficult.
Speaking freely with a professional counsellor can help you reflect on the things causing you pain and difficulty, and find a way forward that feels right for you. Past traumas, difficult relationships and current problems can cause ripples that impact your day-to-day life. I can help you to feel more at peace and find freedom from hurt.
It’s common to wonder what you can expect from counselling? Many people report that counselling helps them to have a clearer sense of what they want from their own life and how they can find a way through and feel more at peace with hurts and difficulty. Counselling can help you to express and process a range of emotions that feel uncomfortable. The NHS recognises the benefits of counselling as an evidence-based treatment for anxiety, depression and range of other psychological conditions.
Many people aren’t initially sure why they want to speak with a therapist. Perhaps you have a niggling feeling of un-ease, or that life is passing you by. You may be aware of deep sadness you’ve tried hard to ignore or manage. Counselling offers you time, space and a supportive relationship where you can begin to find ways to feel more at ease with yourself, your past and your future.
In a counselling session, we work together either face-to-face in Preston, or online, for a 60-minute session. There will be no agenda or topics you are expected to talk about, and no emotions are off-limits. I won’t give you advice or tell you what to do, but I may have ideas and suggestions about tasks and activities we can try together. I’ll respect your autonomy, creativity and strengths, and be curious about you. I’ll offer you the space to speak freely about what holds you back and what causes you pain. Together, we’ll find a new perspective. Often, we will work together for a number of sessions. You are free to decide how many sessions feel right for you.
I will use my training and experience to offer you a supportive therapeutic relationship. The way we work together will be tailored to you but will always be based around the creation of a space and a relationship where you feel supported. You can read more here about my training and experience and the type of therapy I offer.
Together, we will work together to help you find freedom from a range of issues or challenges, including:

“It was a very good and beneficial experience. Claire was lovely, helpful, professional, and very easy/nice to talk to. She was helpful in providing good coping techniques that have helped my anxiety and I would recommend her to others 100%“
“I can’t thank you enough for your support over the last 15 weeks. You provided a calm and comfortable environment and guided me through a journey to explore my anxiety. You helped me address difficult emotional thoughts and feelings and highlighted self-help tools to help me understand anxiety. This helped me reach a level of peaceful acceptance: anxiety no longer controls my daily life, and I now have a much more positive and happier outlook.“
