No-fuss anxiety tips #20
Celebrate the mini wins!
Here we are at our final blog in this 20-article series on anxiety. If you’ve missed any of the previous articles, there’s a link to each of the blogs at the bottom of this article. The series has provided simple, no-nonsense tips and techniques for managing anxiety and finding greater ease in your life. Each of the posts draw on therapeutic thinking from a range of psychological and psychotherapy theories.
What these tips won’t do is explore the origins and purpose of anxiety for you – this type of deeper exploration is what therapy offers. That said, having strategies for managing anxiety is a great place to start. Each article is designed to be a quick read, and with practical implementable ideas. Let’s dive into our final tip, then: celebrate the mini wins.
How often do you take time to say “well done, me”? Are you making space to note, honour and acknowledge the small wins, the mini-victories? If not, you might be missing a trick when it comes to getting a handle on your anxiety.
Allowing yourself to recognise and celebrate small milestones towards a larger goal provides a positive boost to self-esteem and helps to break a large task into smaller chunks. Each small milestone becomes a mini victory that’s worth celebrating. After all, you are likely to be great at criticising yourself – so redress the balance with a bit of self-recognition.
Getting to end of this anxiety series is an achievement! For me, and you, too! So, well done us!
